Notes from the Creators

>{n0t3}creat.e/0r.5 “When we were working on Vol.1 it could sometimes get frustrating with the amount of pressure I was putting on making it just so. Having such a clear idea from the jump and trying to see it through is definitely rewarding but it isn’t very freeing and can sometimes even fall into being tedious. I found myself blowing off steam by recording these songs. Another thing I’ve noticed when working on a project that’s more planned out like Vol.1 or Vol.2 is you’ve been with the material for so long it starts to feel disconnected. Rehearsing, playing shows, demos, etc. By the time you get to the mixing stage you’re already pretty sick of the songs but then you have to sit with them so intently for so long you forget what it even is. So it’s nice to be able to bounce around and f*** with something else for a little while to give yourself a break or whatever. Work on something that feels a little more relevant to the current you, and have a way to process the emotions that arise from trying to produce this thing that you created as a way to process other older emotions and things. It helps me to not get stuck that way. I also got to use Shelley Prince as a mixing sketchpad. Got to test things out and get experimental without potentially destroying the album that everyone had already worked so hard on for so long. There’s a version of Soup that had lyrics and was mixed better but somehow I ended up using the wrong file when I released the album.” -Liam
